A quality system around the work

Royal Way has ISO 9001 quality-management certification. For an oilfield component purchase, the day-to-day question is how the agreed requirements are carried through the work: which drawing applies, which material is specified and what the receiving team will check.

A clear purchase specification links these questions to a particular component. The part number and drawing revision establish its identity; the inspection and document requirements establish what is expected at delivery.

Put acceptance requirements beside the drawing

Dimensions, material, hardness and visual requirements should refer to the relevant component rather than remain general statements. Where a customer specification applies, identify its name, version and intended scope. This avoids treating a broad document as if every clause applied to every part.

If samples are required, distinguish sample evaluation from routine delivery inspection. The first may resolve a design or assembly question; the second checks the supplied items against the agreed order.

Choose the document for the question

A certificate of conformance, a material report and a dimensional inspection record provide different information. Specify which documents are needed and whether they should refer to the compound, finished component or supplied batch. The request can then be included in the quotation and delivery scope.

Keep the document reference connected to the component list. For a mixed order, this is more useful than receiving a collection of reports without a clear relationship to the delivered parts.

System certification and product requirements

ISO 9001 concerns the quality-management system. Where an application calls for a separate component test or industry requirement, identify that requirement for the particular product.
