A kit built around the setting tool

The Vaca Muerta project involved compact setting tools used in plug-and-perf operations. Royal Way supplied custom HNBR redress kits with PTFE backup rings. Here the supply unit was a kit tied to a tool, rather than a collection of unrelated standard seals.

A useful kit description connects each item to a position in the assembly. That connection makes the parts easier to identify during receiving, workshop preparation and later replenishment.

The parts list is as important as the tool name

Tools in the same series may use different sizes or revisions. The tool model and version should therefore travel with the kit reference. A bill of materials can record each component's part number, quantity, material and installation position without relying on a product photograph alone.

The seal and backup ring should be treated as a specified arrangement. Substituting a visually similar ring can change the assembled configuration. For this reason, a drawing or original kit reference is more useful than simply asking for an HNBR O-ring assortment.

Organizing maintenance replacements

For a complete redress order, list the components required for one tool and the number of tools to be serviced. For a partial order, identify the selected components individually. This avoids confusing the quantity of kits with the total number of seals.

Retain any tool modification or drawing revision in the purchase record. If the workshop has changed an assembly, the old kit number may no longer describe everything that is needed. Clear labels and a component list also help distinguish spares for different tools stored in the same location.
