It is the percentage of permanent deformation a rubber retains after stress is removed.

6. Operational Best Practices

  • Don’t Overheat: While “High-Memory” NBR is robust, exceeding 275°F will eventually “cook” the rubber and kill its memory. For wells >275°F, please upgrade to our High-Memory Viton® series.

  • Relax Time: When retrieving a packer that has been set for months, pull slowly for the first few stands to allow the rubber a few minutes to fully relax and temperature equalize.
