/ Hammer Union Seals
H2S Resistant HNBR Seals for Figure 2202 Unions (15,000 PSI)
Our Hammer Union Seals are engineered to provide leak-free performance in Weco® style union connections used in high-pressure flowlines. Manufactured from high-modulus elastomers and reinforced with anti-extrusion backup rings (Brass or Stainless Steel), these seals withstand the extreme pulsating pressures and abrasive fluids found in hydraulic fracturing and cementing operations.
Technical Specifications
- Working Pressure Ratings: 1,000 PSI to 22,500 PSI (depending on union rating)
- Durometer: 80-95 Shore A
Applications
- Hydraulic Fracking: High-pressure sand and proppant injection lines.
- Flowback Operations: Managing post-frac fluids and gases.
- Choke & Kill Manifolds: Safety-critical well control connections.
- Mud Lines: Circulating drilling mud systems.
- Acidizing & Cementing: Handling abrasive cement slurries and acid fluids.
H2S Resistant HNBR Seals for Figure 2202 Unions (15,000 PSI)
1. Executive Summary: The Ultimate Seal for Extreme Sour Service
The Figure 2202 Hammer Union (identifiable by its Green Nut and Green Sub) is a specialized connection designed explicitly for Sour Gas service at 15,000 PSI. It does not use the same seal as the 1502.
Our H2S Resistant HNBR Seals for Figure 2202 are the pinnacle of elastomer engineering. Designed to operate at the absolute limits of pressure and toxicity, these seals feature a unique lip geometry and a dedicated support system to survive conditions that would destroy standard oilfield seals instantly. They are the critical barrier protecting your crew from lethal H2S releases.
2. Engineering for 15,000 PSI Sour Gas
Geometry: The Lip Seal Advantage
Unlike the compression-fit O-rings found in lower pressure unions, the Figure 2202 seal utilizes a Pressure-Energized Lip.
-
Function: As the 15,000 PSI internal pressure pushes against the seal, the lip flares outward, biting harder into the sealing surface. This dynamic action ensures that the seal integrity actually improves as pressure increases.
Combating Explosive Decompression (ED)
At 15,000 PSI, gas molecules are forced deep into the rubber matrix. When pressure is released rapidly, this gas expands.
-
NORSOK M-710 Formulation: Our HNBR compound is rigorously formulated to resist crack propagation during these decompression events. It meets the stringent requirements of NORSOK M-710 Annex B, ensuring the seal does not blister or rupture internally.

4. Critical Safety Warning
⚠️ FATAL ERROR WARNING: Figure 1502 and Figure 2202 seals are NOT interchangeable.
A 1502 seal installed in a 2202 union will fail.
A 2202 seal installed in a 1502 union will fail.
Always Check: Ensure the Hammer Union is painted GREEN (designating Fig 2202) before installing this seal.
5. Field Applications
