Grease Flow Tube Seal Kit for Wireline Pressure Control Equipment (PCE)

In the critical phase of wireline completions, the reliability of your Pressure Setting Assembly (WPSA) is the only thing standing between a successful plug-and-perf operation and a costly misrun. At Royal Way, we understand that a single O-ring failure can halt an entire frac fleet. That is why we engineer our Redress Kits not just to “fit,” but to outperform.

Technical Specifications

  • Standard Service (NBR): For routine operations up to 250°F.
  • High-Temp Service (FKM/Viton®): For deep, hot wells up to 400°F.
  • Extreme Service (Aflas®/HNBR): For Sour Gas (H2S) and chemically aggressive environments.

Sizes

  • Available for #10, #20, and Compact Setting Tools etc.

Product: Grease Flow Tube Seal Kit for Wireline Pressure Control Equipment (PCE)

1. Executive Summary: The Invisible Barrier Against Blowouts

In a Grease Injection Control Head, the metal Flow Tubes create the primary pressure drop. But without a perfect seal between the flow tubes and the control head body, that pressure integrity is lost.

Our Grease Flow Tube Seal Kits are the critical “secondary seal” ensuring that high-pressure grease and wellbore fluids are forced through the tube-to-wire clearance, not around it. Designed for 5K, 10K, and 15K PSI operations, these kits prevent dangerous “bypass leakage” that leads to loss of grease pressure and potential containment failure. Whether you are running standard slickline or braided electric line, Royal Way ensures your PCE stack remains pressure-tight.

2. Compatibility & Fitment Guide

Grease Control Heads come in various configurations. Our kits are curated to fit the industry’s most common PCE designs.

  • Compatible Equipment:

    • Elmar™ Style Grease Injection Control Heads.

    • Bowen™ / NOV™ Style Grease Heads.

    • Otis™ Style Pressure Control Equipment.

  • Tube Sizes Covered:

    • Fits standard flow tube ODs for wireline sizes from 3/16″ to 7/16″ (Braided Line) and Slickline.

  • Pressure Ratings:

    • Standard Kit: For 5,000 & 10,000 PSI WP.

    • H2S / Extreme Kit: For 15,000 PSI WP (Includes PEEK/PTFE Backups).

3. Material Options: Standard vs. Sour Service

Option A: Standard Service (NBR / Nitrile)

  • Application: Standard oil & gas operations, non-corrosive environments.

  • Temp Rating: -20°F to +250°F.

  • Why Choose? Cost-effective solution for routine maintenance in sweet wells. Features excellent resistance to standard wireline grease (honey oil).

Option B: Sour Gas Service (Viton® / FKM)

  • Application: H2S environments, high-temperature wells (>250°F), or when using aggressive corrosion inhibitors.

  • Why Choose? Viton resists explosive decompression (RGD) and chemical attack, ensuring the seals don’t swell or blister during the job. Mandatory for H2S operations.

4. Kit Contents: A Complete Stack Solution

A typical Grease Head uses a “stack” of flow tubes (usually 3 to 5 tubes). Our kit provides enough seals to redress the Entire Stack, not just one tube.

What’s in the Bag?

  1. Flow Tube O-Rings:

    • Precision-molded O-rings that fit the outer groove of the flow tube.

    • Quantity: Sufficient for a standard 4-tube or 5-tube stack (plus spares).

  2. Anti-Extrusion Backup Rings:

    • Virgin PTFE (Teflon) or PEEK backup rings.

    • Critical Function: Prevents the rubber O-ring from extruding into the gap between the flow tube and the housing under 10,000+ PSI differential.

  3. Connection Seals:

    • Includes seals for the Grease Injection Port and Check Valve connections (where applicable).

  4. Sleeve Seals:

    • O-rings for the outer flow tube sleeves (concentric designs).

5. Technical Deep Dive: Preventing “Bypass Leakage”

The Failure Mode

If a flow tube O-ring fails, the pressurized grease takes the path of least resistance: it flows around the outside of the tube.

  • Symptom: You are pumping grease, but cannot build header pressure. Grease consumption skyrockets.

  • The Fix: Our kits use 90 Durometer elastomers paired with tight-tolerance Backup Rings. This forces the grease into the wireline strands (where it belongs), maintaining the “Liquid Seal” required to hold back well pressure.

6. Operational Best Practices

  • Change Every Job: Flow tube seals are static, but they undergo massive pressure cycles. We recommend replacing them every time you inspect or clean the flow tubes.

  • Lubrication: Generously lubricate the O-rings with silicone grease before sliding the flow tubes back into the housing to prevent “shaving” the rubber.

  • Check the Grooves: Inspect the O-ring grooves on the metal flow tubes. If the metal is washed out or pitted, even a new O-ring won’t seal. Replace the tube.

7. Why Royal Way?

  • PCE Specialists: We understand Wireline Pressure Control. Our kits are built to API 16A / 6A rubber specifications.

  • Batch Traceability: Full QA documentation provided for offshore compliance.

  • Universal Fit: One kit covers multiple tube sizes (since the tube OD often remains constant while the ID changes for the wire).
