4-inch flowlines experience massive “Water Hammer” (shock loads) when pumps kick on or off.

6. Operational Best Practices

  • Clean the Grease Ports: TSI swivels are robust, but grease channels can get clogged with old hardened grease. Clear the ports with a wire or solvent before installing the new Zerk to ensure new grease actually reaches the bearings.

  • Stake the Plugs: Due to the vibration in 4-inch lines, always stake (center punch) the ball race plugs after torquing to prevent them from vibrating loose.

  • Ball Count: Ensure you install the correct number of balls. Leaving a gap too large can cause point-loading and race failure.
