6. Operational Best Practices

  • Ball Plug Safety: On FlowValve style swivels, ensure the ball race plugs are fully seated and flush. If they protrude, they can interfere with rotation. Use thread locker or stake them securely.

  • Grease is the Seal: In FlowValve designs, grease helps form a secondary barrier against sand. Don’t skimp on grease. Pump it until you see clean grease purge out.

  • Inspect for Erosion: 4-inch lines see massive sand volume. Check the wall thickness of the elbows during recertification. If erosion is excessive, no seal kit will make it safe.
