6. Operational Tips for Iron Recertification

Check the Races: Before rebuilding, clean the ball races thoroughly. If the races are “brinelled” (dented) or deeply pitted, the new balls will not roll smoothly. The swivel body may need replacement.

Grease Correctly: After assembly, rotate the swivel while injecting grease. This ensures the grease travels around the entire race and coats every ball.

Torque Plugs: Ensure the ball race plugs are torqued to spec to prevent back-out during vibration.
