1. Primary Packing (Seal Ring):

2. Anti-Extrusion Backup Ring:

   • Material: Zinc-Plated Steel or Stainless Steel.

   • Function: Prevents the elastomer from extruding into the ball race gap. Note: Our steel backups are treated to resist corrosion.

3. Ball Bearings:

   • Material: Precision Ground Chrome Steel.

Option A: Standard Service (NBR / Nitrile)

  • Viton® (Orange): Best for Hydrochloric Acid (HCl) and high heat (>300°F).

6. Operational Tips for FMC Swivels

• Don’t Mix Balls: Never mix old ball bearings with new ones. Old balls are smaller due to wear; mixing them causes the new balls to take 100% of the load, leading to rapid failure. Always replace the full set.

• Grease Relief: When greasing the joint after a rebuild, ensure the relief plug is removed (if applicable) or rotate the joint to allow old air/grease to escape, preventing the dust seal from blowing out.

• Check the Gender: Ensure you are installing the packing facing the correct direction (Lip facing the pressure source).
