Our 2″ Standard Swivel Joint Seal Kit is the definitive MRO solution for rebuilding Standard (Normal) Style 2-inch swivel joints. Engineered for Figure 1502 pressure ratings (15,000 PSI), this kit includes premium Nitrile (NBR) packing and precision hardware to restore your equipment to factory performance. It is the cost-effective standard for routine water, mud, and proppant service.

2. Compatibility Check: “Normal” vs. “Oversized”

⚠️ CRITICAL ID CHECK: 2″ Swivels come in two distinct packing styles. Buying the wrong one will result in a leak.

• This Kit: Fits “Normal” (Standard) Swivels. This is the most common industry style (comparable to FMC / Weco / SPM standard designs). The packing groove width is standard.

• Do NOT Use For: SMI “Oversized” Swivels. SMI style swivels utilize a wider/deeper packing groove. If you have an SMI swivel, please see our 2″ Oversized Kit.

Don’t just replace the rubber; rebuild the joint. Our kit provides all wear components required for a Level 2 or Level 3 recertification.

1. Primary Packing (Seal Ring):

   • Material: 90 Durometer Nitrile (Buna-N).

   • Design: Pressure-energized lip profile that seals tighter as pressure increases.

   • Function: The main barrier against wellbore fluid.

2. Anti-Extrusion Backup Ring:

   • Material: Brass or Stainless Steel (Selectable).

   • Function: Prevents the rubber packing from extruding into the ball race gap under 15,000 PSI loads.

3. Precision Ball Bearings:

   • Material: Chrome Steel.

   • Function: Restores smooth rotation. Worn bearings cause “stiff” iron; new bearings ensure easy rig-up.

4. Dust Seals / O-Rings:

   • Keeps grease in and sand/dirt out of the bearing races.

5. Grease Zerk:

   • Replacement lubrication fitting to ensure ongoing maintenance.

For 90% of onshore fracking and flowback operations, Nitrile (NBR) is the material of choice.

• Abrasion Resistance: Our NBR compound is formulated with high carbon black content to resist the scouring action of frac sand and drilling mud.

6. Operational Best Practices

• Greasing: After rebuilding, grease the swivel joint immediately while rotating it. This distributes the grease and seats the new ball bearings.

• Inspection: Check the “Ball Race” (the groove where balls roll) on the male and female swivel halves. If the race is pitted or brinelled (dented), even a new kit will not fix the issue—the metal body must be replaced.

• Torque: Ensure ball plugs are torqued correctly to prevent them from backing out under vibration.
